Lawnscaping Challenge #102

Annnnddd, we are back for a new challenge for Lawnscaping!  Can you believe it, time is flyin' by so fast!!  So - do you like distressed projects - the look of them, the feel of them? This challenge is for you!  We invite you to pull out your Distress Inks and tools to make a project that has that distressed look.  Before I head into the details of my card - I also want to tell you that this challenge is sponsored by the one and only Lawn Fawn!  How awesome is that.  If you link up your project - you will have a change to win a $25 dollar gift certificate!

OK - for my card I wanted to make a "pretty distressed" card - I don't make to many projects with a distressed look, but I like to have fun with it when I can.  So - I recently picked up the two newest Distress Ink colors - Cracked Pistachio and Abandoned Coral.  These are beautiful inks!  And, the best property about these inks is they react with water - so I inked up my water color paper with these two colors, and then I took the diamond pattern from Argyle Backdrops, and I mounted my stamp on my block and then spritzed my stamp with water and stamped directly down onto my background. The ink wicks away and leaves that pattern into the ink!  Cool huh?!  One of my favorite techniques! I wanted my background to be the star of the show, so I kept the rest of the card simple.  I stamped "hello" from Capital Quinn ABC's and die cut it out using one of the Stitched Rectangle Stackables dies.  I slightly colored in the hello with a BG 11 Copic Marker and then I inked up the background with Old Paper distress ink and on the edges, Walnut Stain.  I did the same for the edges of the background piece.  Then, I wrapped some Lawn Trimmings twine around the main panel, and then adhered all the pieces together with foam adhesive and adhered it to my Chocolate Malt card base.

I hope this has inspired you to get inky and distress something!!  See you over at the gallery!!

Lawnscaping Challenge #87 Back to School

Well, my friends - it is that time again - a new Lawnscaping Challenge AND back to school time!  The summer has gone by fast!
We want to see your back to school projects! And, when you are buying some of your crafty goodies for school - remember Simon Says Stamp, who is also our sponsor for this fun challenge!!!!

So here is my card :) I used several fun Lawn Fawn goodies for this one.  I used the Quinn's Capital ABC's for my background.  I heat embossed it with Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder. I also used stamp sets Science of Love and A Good Apple.  I stamped out my sentiments in Paris Dusk, Lady Bug and Cantaloupe Memento Inks. For my focal panel, I die cut some white PaperTrey Ink Stamper's Select card stock using the Stitched Journaling Card Die (small) and to color in my book - I used a few Copic Markers.

For the borders of my red card stock I applied some navy blue washi tape, and well as some yellow to highlight my arrow die cuts in my focal panel.

Hope this inspires you to make some fun back to school projects!!!

LSC # 74 Inspired By

Welcome to a new challenge over at Lawnscaping!  For the next two weeks - we are going to be inspired by other designers on the Lawnscaping Design Team.  I won't lie - I had a *really* hard time choosing just one designer to use my inspiration from - but I did it.

I chose this *CUTE* card by Elena!  I liked how you used a "image" as letters :)  So - here is what I took away from this inspiration.

This is a simple design, but has a fun feel to it.  I used one of my favorite alpha sets by Lawn Fawn - Quinn's ABC's.  I die cut letters to spell out my sentiment - minus the two "O's" for Lookin' - as you can see I used a pair of glasses from the adorable set "Clear to See" by Lawn Fawn.  I stamped my glasses in Espresso Truffle Luxe Ink because I used glitter to emboss over it - and since these inks are a pigment ink - it is a great ink to use for this.  Then, I just adhered my letters down onto my "bokah" pattern paper from Lawn Fawn's Peace Love Joy 6x6 pad.  The letters are also die cut using papers from the same pad.  Then, I adhered the green peace onto a piece of kraft card stock, and then I popped up that whole panel onto my white card base which is Bazzill Marshmallow card stock.  To finish it off - I used Wink of Stella to add just a slight shimmer to the rest of the letters.

I can't wait to see who has inspired YOU!!  Our awesome sponsor is the fantastic Lawn Fawn!  If that is not inspiration enough - I don't know what is!  * SMILE*

See you soon!

LSC# 69 Sentiment

Well - hello there everyone!  Time is flying isn't it!  We are in the month of November already, AND we have a new challenge over at the Lawnscaping Blog.  For this challenge - we are focusing on making the sentiment of your project the star of the show!

Here is a look at my card that I made for this challenge.....

I used the Quinn's ABC's Dies and stamps for the focal point for my card.  I started out by die cutting the word 'Shine' three times out of white card stock.  Then, for one set of the die cut letters, I coated them in VersaMark ink, and embossed them with gold embossing powder.  I then took the other two sets, and clued them together, and put my embossed letters on top to create dimensional letters. I then adhered a piece of silver shimmer POW paper from AC to the bottom portion of my negative die cut piece, and then adhered the whole panel to a piece of red card stock to create a small red border.  I, then took Harold's ABC's and created custom sentiments to go along with the word 'Shine'.  I stamped the coordinating letters from the stamp set in the first negative space, then I adhered my embossed letters back into the negative space in the middle. I then adhered the whole panel to a white card base.  Here is a closer look at those beautiful gold letters and to see the dimension.

I hope this inspires you to join us for this challenge!  The awesome Simon Says Stamp is our sponsor!!!  Hope you check out what the rest of the design team and the Facebook Inspiration Team has come up to inspire you also for this challenge!

See you soon!
