Lawnscaping FIT Monthly Blog Hop | May 2015

Hi blog hoppers!!  Welcome to my blog and another monthly blog hop featuring the Lawnscaping Facebook Inspiration Team aka FIT Team :)  This month we are inspired by the color Teal!  I think this hop in particular this month will be a popular one, because this color is a happy one, and it seems a lot of us love this color!  It is one of my favorite colors no doubt!!  Before I get into the details of my card  - you should arrived to my blog by the way of the talented Isha - no doubt I am sure that she had something fantastic!!  What a talent!

For my card for you today I wanted to keep it simple in design and let the color that we are inspired by stand on its own!  I used my first stamp set I ever purchased from Lawn Fawn - Say Cheese!  It is still a favorite and will remain that way I am sure.  And, who doesn't like a teal colored camera!  :)

I started my card by stamping my background which is from Argyle Backdrops - another one of my favorite background stamps from LF.  I used two colors of Teal ink, both from HA - Mint Julep and Tide Pool.  I stamped that onto my favorite white card stock - PTI stampers select white card stock, and I stamped enough to cover the card stock so I could die cut the panel with the Largest Stitched Rectangle Die from LF.  Once my background was done, I die cut another smaller panel with the same die set, and stamped my camera, as well as my sentiment which are the letters from Quinn's ABC's and I stamped them with Versa Mark ink, and them heat embossed them with Gold Embossing powder.

I colored both my camera and my letters with 4 shades of teal of Copic Markers - BG10, BG11, BG13, & BG15. I colored them with an ombre' effect in mind.  Once I was satisfied with how it looked, I moved onto the camera lens, and flash area of the camera, and I colored those areas with grays - C1 & C3.  I also added some shimmer with some Wink of Stella, and Clear irRESISTible Pico Embellisher.  I created a mat for my colored panel with a piece of the foiled card stock from the Bazzill Basics 6x6 pad.  And, here is a closer look at the details of the camera.

I liked how it turned out!!  I hope you do too, and it inspires you to get those older stamp sets out!!  I can't forget to give a shout out to our monthly ( and awesome) sponsor - Lara Smith from The Ink Road.  She has a wonderful shop on Etsy if you haven't checked it out yet!.  Be sure to leave a comment along the way and have a chance to win a gift certificate to her shop!!

So - its time move along to Lenny and her amazing project for you!!  If you get lost along the way - below is the hop order!!  Have fun on the rest of the hop!!

Distress Mania LSC #64

WOW! Back again to introduce a new Lawnscaping Challenge!!  We getting Distressed!!  This challenge is all about making your projects look Distressed with inks, sanding, etc.

Up for grabs is a gift certificate to the oh so wonderful Lawn Fawn!!  And, with there new releases about to be available very soon - now it is a great time to enter!

Here is my card for this challenge!

I used some Core'dinations paper that I had in my stash and I dry embossed my paper with a diagonal stripes embossing folder, and then sanded my paper to bring out the color core!!  I, then added some washi tape with the same color scheme that I was going for.  Then, I stamped out the polaroid from "Say Cheese" ( my very first Lawn Fawn stamp set - I treasure it!) onto some more Core'dinations paper but on the color core side to make it look "aged".  Then, I took one of the element stickers from the Dewey Decimal collection, and added it to the middle of my frame using foam adhesive.  I felt like my card needed one more thing, so I found a peach colored button in my stash and added some Lawn Trimmings to the button and adhered it to my frame.  This whole card panel was adhered to a piece of Hawaiian Shores card stock, and then onto a Kraft card base.

Hope this inspires you to enter into this week's challenge!!  I am looking forward to all the entries!!
Be sure to watch throughout the week for additional inspiration from the Facebook Inspiration Team!
