FAN-tastic!

OK - I know I have been a little quiet on the blog...a post here...and post there....but you know how it is....Important thing is...I have another card to share....and it isn't for a challenge!!! Can you believe it?!?!

Sometimes, you just gotta PLAY...and that is what I've been doing for a little bit this Friday evening.  So - for this card I am playing with one of the new stamp sets from Sweet Stamp Shop called "Spin Me".  I got it mainly for the fan image in this set.  I think overall this is an adorable set, and there are many ideas that you could get creating with it.

I'll tell ya...I am obsessed....I am obsessed with this "pool" blue color lately.  It has made its way in the last 4 or 5 card I've made!  Not only that, but it was the nail color I had on ( before I changed it today), its my new phone cover, its in decor I have at work...everywhere...its a lovely color, and I thought it went so lovely in the card and design!

This stamp set, and this color - FAN-FREAKIN- TASTIC! :)

Have a great weekend!!

LSC # 60 - Dimension

'Ello everyone!  It is only Tues, but it already feels like this week has been 5 days long!  So much going on at work..yadda, yadda, yadda...so to de-stress from all the craziness...I created my next entry for the Lawnscaping Challenge, before I officially start my role as one of the designers for the Lawnscaping Facebook Inspiration Team!!  How exciting, right!!

This week is about adding dimension to your project, and I love dimension!  It makes a card or project come to life!!

I used six LF stamp sets for this card - yes!!  SIX!  Critters on the SavannaCritters Ever AfterCritters on the FarmBlue SkiesHarold's ABC's, and Sally's ABC's.  I wanted this card to be a positive message, but also a "play on words" sort of thing as well. I love making up my own sentiments as I feel that is allowing me to expand my creativity on my designs!

Here is a closer look of the dimension.

I encourage you to get your LF stamps out and see what creativity you can come up with and don't forget to add Dimension!!  :)

Also, I encourage you to "Like" Lawnscaping's Facebook Page!  Starting July 1st, there will be even more inspiration for you on each New Challenge!!  You don't want to miss it!! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello, Sunshine! ( LSC # 59 - coloring)

I'mmmm back!! Today I wanted to share with you my submission for...yep...you guessed it - the latest Lawnscaping Challenge.  I will freely admit - I don't feel I am the best at coloring - but I sure do give it my best shot!

I really do love the "sun rays" look on cards and layouts, and I really hadn't created anything like it yet - so I thought I would break out some supplies that I bought intending to do this look.  I used a PTI die called " Beautiful Beads" - it is intended to help make your own jewelry, but I am using it for my "rays".  I used papers for Lawn Fawn's 6x6 Pink Lemonade collection.  I also die cut from some sookwang adhesive sheet a zig zag circle from this die set from Sizzix.  I then applied some Stardust glitter to give my circle some sparkle and I burnished it onto the circle. I adhered all the pieces of patterned paper onto my card base, then applied my glittered circle.

I then colored the card base around the sun rays with Copic Marker B21 to make it look more like a sky.  I stamped the "hen" from "Critters on the Farm" from Lawn Fawn twice, once on the middle circle, then again onto white cardstock to give it some color and to pop it up to give it dimension on the card.  I then stamped one of the banners from "Bannerific" and stamped out a custom sentiment using "Harold's ABC's"

Here is a closer look.

Thanks for stopping by!!  Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Hi everyone!  Happy Memorial Day!!  I hope all the men and women and their families know how much we are blessed by their sacrifice everyday of their service for our freedom!!  God Bless all of you!!

Today, I am popping in quickly to share with you my entry for the latest SSS Challenge.  I actually had to work today ( half a day) and while at work, I had this idea that popped into my head for this challenge, and when I came home and after relaxing a bit, I put this card together!

I love Neon, and I really hadn't played with a stamp set that I own from Amy Tangerine called "Love Struck".  It's a bit of an older one, but I knew that this little camera was the perfect size for how I wanted to stamp on my card panel.  So - I stamped it out in five of the Neon Inks from HA, and then added some fun film strip washi across the card panel.  Then, my sentiment comes from Mama Elephant from a set called "Smitten".  Fun, huh?!

Hope your long weekend was a happy one!  See you back here soon!!

May AEI♥U Challenge

It is getting late this evening, but I have been having fun most of the day being creative and crafty.  My favorite past time! ( other than watching STL baseball of course).  So, one of the cards I made is for the latest Avery Elle Challenge.

OK - I didn't know WHAT I was going to do when I started making this card.  That is probably why it takes me such a long time to create one card most of the time, because I don't do sketches before hand or anything, I just wing it!  I knew I wanted to use my Avery Elle set All Squared Up, but from there, I had no other direction.

Here is the inspiration photo....

And here is what I came up with.....

I stamped onto a piece of white card stock the circle image from this set in five different Hero Arts Shadow Inks - Mint Julep, Tide Pool, Pool, Cornflower, and Navy.  I overlapped all of the circles, and then I took some Navy washi tape, and a bubble aqua patterned washi and adhered it down the middle of the circles.  Then, I took the Navy stamped circle and cut out the middle with a craft knife, and then punched it out with  1 3/4 in. circle punch and popped it up on foam adhesive turning it the opposite direction and placed it in the middle of the circle row.  I, then stamped the "Thinking of you" sentiment in Navy, and to represent the boat being tied up, I stamped a "friend" sentiment that goes with my jewelry tag punch from SU! and added that to my middle circle for a fun element.  I adhered that panel to a Navy panel that I embossed with an embossing folder called "Fancy Fan" and adhered that to my white card base.

I like how this turned out.  I think all the time it took for me to do this from start to finish was worth it for this fun design.

I hope your weekend is a relaxing one, and you are able to do something that makes you smile.

See you soon :)

LSC # 58 Clean and Simple

One of the only reasons I look forward to Mondays is because there is a new Lawnscaping Challenge :)  This challenge is all about creating a CAS card.  Now, I will admit, when I first started making CAS cards, it was SO hard for me!!  I wanted to keep adding and adding, but the more I practiced on this, I feel I have the hang of the concept now.

For my card this week, I wanted to used my new dies for the set Admit One.  Another admission here....this is the first time I have inked up this stamp set.  I am not very good at fussy cutting, although I will do it, but I am SLOOWWW at it.  HAHA.  So - when LF released the dies for this set, my eyes lit up with joy!!

My card is a standard A2 size card, and I cut a separate white piece of card stock to emboss my clouds using a SU! embossing folder, and I die cut the carousel using the coordinating die.  I stamped the carousel onto my card base and colored it with Copics, and then added my "Enjoy the Ride" sentiment, and I popped up my card panel with foam adhesive to give dimension to my carousel.

It was a fun card to make, and to ink up this cute set and use its coordinating dies!

Hope your week is off to a great start!!  See you back here soon!

What I've been waiting for!

Happy Weekend everyone!  Today, I wanted to share with you one of my submissions for the Lawnscaping DT Call Challenge!  I have been participating in this challenge for a long while.  I have been a lover of Lawn Fawn stamps when they pretty much launched, and I haven't looked back.  So - when my discovery of Lawn Fawn stamps spilled over into the Lawnscaping challenge, it was a love of two worlds for me!  I try so very hard to enter into every challenge there is, and I have had the opportunity and blessing to be able to Guest Design for them twice!  I've even had the opportunity to do a tutorial for them on You Tube!  So, needless to say - I love this challenge blog!  I've submitted four cards total, and here is a look at all four.

Card # 1

This card represents how I feel about them having a DT call ( and hopefully having this feeling if I am lucky enough to be chosen, if I am being honest) *grin*

I made a 5 1/2 square card and used papers from Lawn Fawn's 6x6 pad Pink Lemonade.  Then, I used the cute set SummerTime Charm, and stamped the "star of the show" of that set the cute little jar onto a piece of vellum card stock.  I, strategically stamped the top of the jar to look like the jar didn't have it's lid, and then stamped the top of the jar onto a piece of card stock from Bazzill called Circus Peanuts.  I, then wanted a "bursting" look to my jar, and I went through my other Lawn Fawn sets and found a bursting image from Say Cheese, Too, and I also strategically stamped that image, leaving out the star.  I stamped the label for the jar on another piece of pattern paper from the same 6x6 pad, and used the "Congrats" sentiment from So Much to Say, and adhered that to my jar which gave me a great place to put adhesive to my vellum stamped jar to adhere to my card.  I adhered my lid with foam adhesive for dimension, because after all it is " bursting" from the jar.  For my sentiment - I custom stamped with Harold's ABC's.  To finish off my card, I added some enamel dots.

Card # 2

For this card - I used the new Puffy Star Stackables.  I made this card specifically for a special graduate.  I also used the "cap" images from both So Much to Say, and Hats Off To You.  Also featured is the new set Lucky Stars.  I did a little bit of Copic coloring on the caps, and to highlight the stars, I did some faux stitching.

Card #3

For this 5 1/2 square card, I used Summertime Charm again, because who can resist this jar!  I like finding new things to put in it as well.  I used Sweet Christmas for one of the candy pieces, and stamped it in a multitude of colors using various Memento Inks.  I even did some masking too on the candy.  I also die cut using the banner from the Blue Skies Lawn Cuts twice to extend the length of the banner just a bit, and glue the two die cuts together.  For the sentiment, I combined from Sweet Christmas, and So Much to Say for a custom sentiment " Have a sweet Birthday".

Card #4

And, for my fourth card here, I wanted to do a clean and simple project.  My card base is an A2 size standard card, and I started out masking off the card base with some Inkadinkado masking sheets except where I wanted to emboss and do some emboss resist with some Distress Inks.  I, first stamped my triangle border from Sharp BackDrops with Versa Mark Ink to heat emboss with white embossing powder, and then the fun part - I chose three of my favorite colors of Distress Inks - Picked RaspberrySalty Ocean, and Peacock Feathers, and let the magic happen of the emboss resist.  To add additional interest to my card, I paper pierced down the sides of my embossed colored strip.  For my sentiment, I first die cut using some wood-grain card stock, and from SSS, and the folder banner die also from SSS, and inked up from Grand Greetings, the "Thanks" from "Thanks So Much", and adhered it to my card.

I wanted to do one more project different from cards to show that I am able to do a variety of crafts besides cards, and I plan on doing that this week.

Get your Lawn Fawn goodies out, and submit to this fun challenge blog!  Have a great weekend!!

Lawnscaping Challenge # 57 Bling It!

'Ello every one.  Whew! It feels like a long time since I have gotten crafty, and posted to my blog.  The last few weeks have been a bit of a trying situation for me.  I became sick with a respiratory infection, and then I severely sprained my ankle, and have been recovering from that.  Needless to say, I haven't felt good, or had the time to do much when it comes to being creative.  So - today, I wanted to change that.  First let me say, Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's and grandmother's out there!  Hope your day has been fantastic!

Now - onto my submission for the latest Lawnscaping Challenge.  It feels like forever since I have been able to "play" because all through the month of April I was honored to be a Guest Designer! So - I am a player once again.  This time it is all about "Bling".

I wanted to keep my card simple, and not try so hard to come up with some uber- fantastic....I have mentioned in a post before...sometimes I try to go in deep depths of card making to come up with something fabulous, when sometimes the most simple card designs do the trick too.  So...here it 'tis

I used these dies to die cut some glittered card stock from a DCWV stack I had in my stash.  Then, I inked up sentiments from this set using Staz-On black ink. My card is an A2 standard size card, and I used papers from this 6x6 paper pad.  I adhered my papers to my white card base, and used foam adhesive to pop up my speech bubbles.  To finish off my card, I did some faux stitching with a black glitter pen from Sakura.  Quick, simple. and I love it!

Here is a closer look at the "blingy" sentiments.

See you soon!!

MIA from blogging

Hi all....popping in real quickly to say I am still among the living.  I've been sick, and then Tues. I fell, and I sprained my ankle, so I've been dealing with that. So needless to say I've not been in crafting mood or had a chance to get my craft on. My ankle is getting better. Today has been the best day, and I have been able to bear some weight on it. I hope to get in my craft room and ink something up tonight or tomorrow. You can't keep this girl down long.
Hope to post a new project soon.

Warmest of Wishes

Hi ya'll! :)  I wanted to pop in this evening and share with you my submission for the latest CAS-ual Friday Challenge.  It is all about Birthdays ( in particular - Michele's birthday! HB Michele!)

This card is also going up for my second submission for the PDCC because of the color scheme.

Here is my card:

I stamped my card using this set by Paper Smooches.  I just love, love this pattern!!  I stamped it in Dandelion and Gray Flannel Memento Ink.  Then I die cut one of the Apothecary labels from the exclusive die set from Simon Says Stamp, and I then I colored my label my using this ink, and let it dry a bit before stamping my sentiment from this set also from Simon Says Stamp.  I stamped that in Versa Fine black ink.  To finish off my card I added this "always" wood chip piece that I just LOVE!

See you soon!

PDCC Challenge #178

Kari here with you again - sorry I've been a little bit silent on my blog, but I am back this afternoon to share with you my submission for the latest PDC Challenge.  I just love these colors in this challenge.  So bright and cheery, and it made me want to play along!

For my card, I broke out THIS set from The Stamps of Life.  I really hadn't used it yet, and I've had it for a while.  I thought it would be fun to play with it on this challenge.  I stamped my crayons in Dandelion Memento Ink, Gray Flannel Memento Ink, and Neon Pink Hero Arts Ink, and I used this set from Paper Smooches, and this set from Mama Elephant to create my sentiment that I stamped using Tuxedo Black ink. I found some pattern paper from this 6x6 pad to create my notebook paper, and used this punch by EK Success.  I also was able to use some of my new washi from Freckled Fawn.  I added my stamped panel to gray card base and to finish it off I rounded the corners, and added a cute little paperclip to my notebook page.  Cute. Simple. Hope you like it!!

See you soon!

Lawnscaping Challenge # 56: Inspiration

Happy Monday to you all!!  Today we are kicking off another Lawnscaping Challenge, and I am happy to be once again with the team as a Guest Designer!  It is so fun to be on both sides of this awesome challenge blog!

This week it is all about inspiration - whether its a supply, a certain crafter that you like and aspire to, or maybe even a site that you go to often that gives you inspiration.

Well, for my card that I am featuring today for this challenge - I am all about being inspired by a certain crafter, and her name is Cristina, or most of us know her as Yainea!!  I am honored to say she is one of my dear crafty friends, but she is also someone I am inspired by because her talent is out of this world.  I first took notice of her talent when she made this card for a previous Lawnscaping Challenge/Distressing and of course it was the winner of that challenge.  I loved it for SO many reasons, but without going into a lot of explanation as to why ( because some of it is obvious - I mean - LOOK AT IT - *grin* ) I contacted Yainea directly and told her how much in love I was with her card.  Well, after getting to know one another through email - and sending cards and crafty goodies a few times back and forth - one of the times I received a card from her was a remake of this very card!!  Instead of the sentiment being "Home" - she put "Friends".  I see this card everyday, because it is displayed in my craft room.  So - with ALL of that said - here is my card for this week's challenge, and its dedicated to YOU, Yainea! Hope you like it and don't mind that I "snatched up" some of your idea!

It's not very often I don't put a sentiment on my cards - but this one I wanted my scene to speak for itself!  If I give this card to anyone, I might add one later, but for now I am leaving it as it is.  Hope you all like it!!  I think it turned out really nice - and one of my favorite parts of this card is how my sunset came out!!

Be sure to go play in this week's challenge!! Thank you again Laurel for asking me to fill in for you this  month and to the other awesome ladies of the DT ( which has Yainea ) thank you for embracing me. I mean it from the bottom of my (crafty) heart! I really appreciate the opportunity so much!!
