Inspired By All The Little Things Challenge

Hi all!!

Today, I wanted to share the fact that I am submitting into a challenge for the first time in a LONNGG time!  I thought it would be nice to "get back to the roots" if you will of when I started card making and how I submitted to challenges quite often in the beginning.  I had gotten away from it, probably because LIFE happened..and then I was designing for a design team, or what ever the case may be and fell away from it.  Today though, I wanted to change that!  So, I am sharing this card and hopefully it will inspire some how!

With the next holiday right around the corner, it is all about Valentines Day, loving those most in our lives, whether it is a spouse, friend, or other family member.  I love THIS heart from Neat and Tangled, and currently colored this image as a "Speed Coloring" Tutorial.  I will also share the link for that below.  So, I didn't want that image to go to waste of course, so I used it, and this is the end result!!

I do love how it turned out, and I thought it was a perfect one to share in this challenge!  As promised, below is the video tutorial of me coloring this heart as well!

Thank you for taking the time to stop in today!!  Hope you are able to get some crafty time in!

You're So Sweet with Video Tutorial

Hi gang!  Sorry I've been a bit MIA on the blog recently.  Before I get into the featured card today, I just want to say that I hope to post on my blog regularly.  The past two years it turned into a blog for my Lawnscaping DT posts with a few non DT posts sprinkled in...well since my term has ended
*enter frown face* you will see a bit of a difference on how often I post.  I started my blog of course for myself and all my creations, and when I had the opportunity to be a DT member for the Lawnscaping Challenge Blog ( Facebook Inspiration Team), it turned into a blog mainly for those posts....well gonna have to change that and get back to basics if you will...so enough of that...

Today's post features a card I made using one of the newest sets from Lawn Fawn called Sweet Smiles, and oh how adorable it is!  One of my favorites from this release for sure!!

I stamped the main image onto a piece of PTI Stamper's Select White Cardstock ( my fav) using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and I used my Copics in pinks and blues to color in my image.  Once I achieved the coloring that I liked, I die cut the gum ball machine using the coordinating die.  Then, I used several of the faces that come in this set and stamped them onto each of the gum balls.  Aren't they just adorable!!  Too cute for words!  Then, I die cut some pattern papers from both the BeachSide Patterns and Polka Mon Amie 6x6 pads.  I both the Large and Small Stitched Square Stackables dies from LF to die cut all of my papers and a piece of white card stock to create a white frame.  I stamped the sentiment 'You're So Sweet' from the same stamp set using the VersaFine Onyx Black ink - such a great black ink!  Then, I started adhering my pieces together.  I added some foam adhesive to my gumball machine, and placed that onto my polka dot pattern paper.  I added some liquid glue to my white frame and adhered that to the other piece of pattern paper.  Then, I added all of that onto my 5x5 Vintage Cream card base.  To finish things off I added some Wink of Stella to the gumballs.

Such a fun set!!  So - did you pick up this set!! I'd love to hear from you if you did!  If you'd like to see how this one came together, the video is below as well!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Lawnscaping FIT Monthly Blog Hop | May 2015

Hi blog hoppers!!  Welcome to my blog and another monthly blog hop featuring the Lawnscaping Facebook Inspiration Team aka FIT Team :)  This month we are inspired by the color Teal!  I think this hop in particular this month will be a popular one, because this color is a happy one, and it seems a lot of us love this color!  It is one of my favorite colors no doubt!!  Before I get into the details of my card  - you should arrived to my blog by the way of the talented Isha - no doubt I am sure that she had something fantastic!!  What a talent!

For my card for you today I wanted to keep it simple in design and let the color that we are inspired by stand on its own!  I used my first stamp set I ever purchased from Lawn Fawn - Say Cheese!  It is still a favorite and will remain that way I am sure.  And, who doesn't like a teal colored camera!  :)

I started my card by stamping my background which is from Argyle Backdrops - another one of my favorite background stamps from LF.  I used two colors of Teal ink, both from HA - Mint Julep and Tide Pool.  I stamped that onto my favorite white card stock - PTI stampers select white card stock, and I stamped enough to cover the card stock so I could die cut the panel with the Largest Stitched Rectangle Die from LF.  Once my background was done, I die cut another smaller panel with the same die set, and stamped my camera, as well as my sentiment which are the letters from Quinn's ABC's and I stamped them with Versa Mark ink, and them heat embossed them with Gold Embossing powder.

I colored both my camera and my letters with 4 shades of teal of Copic Markers - BG10, BG11, BG13, & BG15. I colored them with an ombre' effect in mind.  Once I was satisfied with how it looked, I moved onto the camera lens, and flash area of the camera, and I colored those areas with grays - C1 & C3.  I also added some shimmer with some Wink of Stella, and Clear irRESISTible Pico Embellisher.  I created a mat for my colored panel with a piece of the foiled card stock from the Bazzill Basics 6x6 pad.  And, here is a closer look at the details of the camera.

I liked how it turned out!!  I hope you do too, and it inspires you to get those older stamp sets out!!  I can't forget to give a shout out to our monthly ( and awesome) sponsor - Lara Smith from The Ink Road.  She has a wonderful shop on Etsy if you haven't checked it out yet!.  Be sure to leave a comment along the way and have a chance to win a gift certificate to her shop!!

So - its time move along to Lenny and her amazing project for you!!  If you get lost along the way - below is the hop order!!  Have fun on the rest of the hop!!

LSC # 106 - Try A New Technique

Hi all!!  Welcome back to a new challenge with Lawnscaping Challenges! So is there a technique that you've always wanted to try, or even unsure of trying a new technique because you were not sure of how it would turn out?  Well, this challenge is perfect for you to try THAT technique and link it up!

It is a perfect time to play along and show our sponsor Lawn Fawn how awesome your project is!!
They are giving away a $25 gift certificate to the winner!!  Awesome, huh!?
So - there are several techniques that I've wanted to try or had me curious - but the one thing I don't do often at all is make Acetate cards! Mainly - because of stamping on the slick surface has me nervous!  But - I wanted to give it another try!

I used 3 colors of Staz On ink I had to stamp onto my acetate card. The stamping isn't perfect - but that is alright :)  I used Happy 4th and Flutter By for my card today.  I also did some Copic coloring - I am not 100% happy with the coloring - only because of the color match  - but I am sure this card will bring a smile to someone's face.

I added some Wink of Stella to the middle of my butterflies wings, and then some clear Pico Embellisher for a glossy effect and dimension.  I hope this inspires you to try a new technique and to play with us over at the blog!!

One Layer Sentiment Stamping

Happy Saturday crafty friends!!  Today I am sharing a one layer card that features sentiment stamping for the background!  I purchased the Mama Elephant set Tiny Heros and hadn't inked it up yet - so I wanted to do something a little different this go 'round with my stamps.  So - I chose two of the sentiments to use as my background for the sentiment stamping, and two colors of Memento Ink -Lady Bug and Cantaloupe.  I created a 5 x 5 square card base, and I die cut an oval from a Stampin Up Ovals die set from some Inkadinkado Masking paper - and placed that as much in the upper center of my card base as possible.  Then, I just started inking up my sentiments, and starting stamping.

Once I was done with my stamping, I took some Salty Ocean Distress Ink and inked around the edges of my mask paper to really define the edge, so when I removed my masking paper, it would give it some fun dimension even though this was a one layer card.

I then stamped one of the kid images from the same stamp set with my MFT Hybrid Black Licorice ink, and colored in the mask part and star.  I really wanted to highlight those images to represent our "Super, awesome" this girl was!  It was hard to not color in the entire image.  I really wanted to do something different.

I have the video tutorial below in case you wanted to see how I made this card from start to finish.

Enjoy your weekend, and I'll be back soon!! Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

Lawnscaping Challenge #101 - Dots and Stripes

Hey, Hey!!  How's my Lawnscaping friends doing!?  Welcome to another new challenge!!  I had fun with this one!!  I used some of the new papers from Let's Polka, Mon Amie!  I absolutely love everything about this paper pack!  Of course, the simplicity of the dots, stripes and hearts, but the colors...THE COLORS!  The pale vanilla yellow color and the mint are my favs!!

So anyhoo - Back on track! I wanted to create a fun card that could easily bring a smile to a friends face!  I think I accomplished it!  Before I get into the details of my card - I need to give a shout out to our wonderful sponsor  - Ellen Hutson!  This shop is awesome, and the customer service is just as awesome!  They will be giving the winner of this challenge a $25 dollar gift certificate, so if that sounds good to you - be sure to link up your project over at the Lawnscaping gallery!

Like I said in the beginning - I had fun making this card ( not to say I don't with others I make) but this one I was feeling the creativity!  I knew I would - simply for the fact that I was using all new Lawn Fawn goodies!  I've been in a creative slump lately even though I've been putting out projects - I've really had to force the creative juices.  So - I used the fun new set Let's Play!  One of my favorites from the entire new Winter Release.  I inked up the little dog ( isn't it too cute!), one of the birds and the Titter Totter image!  I used Lawn Fawn's new Black Licorice ink - which is a very bold crisp ink!  I inked all the images it with this ink except for the dog, and I used Hero Arts Cup o' Joe ink for it.  I stamped out the dog, and die cut it with its coordinating die, and then stamped it out again onto a piece of the brown striped papers from the Polka Mon Amie papers and fussy cut that out and paper pieced it onto the die cut dog ( so cute ). Then, I stamped the bird and colored it in with my Copics ( BG13 & YG41).  I then stamped the teeter totter and colored it with C1, C3 and C4, and then die cut it out as well with its coordinating die. I set aside all of my pieces, and worked on my background of my scene.  I have a stencil that I used for the grass, and I die cut a piece of copy paper from a cloud die to make a stencil, and inked up my sky/clouds with Tumbled Glass Distress ink.

I created my card base from smooth white card stock and make a 5x5 inch square card.  I die cut from more of the Polka Mon Amie papers with the Stitched Square Stackables ( Small and Large sets), and I put my card together.  I put foam adhesive on the teeter totter and adhered it to my main panel on top of the grass, and I adhered the dog and bird straight onto the card with my liquid adhesive. I adhered foam adhesive to my main panel, and adhered that onto the striped pattern paper.  For the sentiment, I inked up the sentiment from the same set - You Make Life Fun and I carefully inked up the sentiment friends leaving off the "s".  To finish off my card, I added some Wink of Stella to my bird, some Black irRESISTible Pico Embellisher, and a gem in the middle of the teeter totter.

I hope you love this card as much as I enjoyed and loved making it!!  Hope to see your creation over at the blog in the gallery!!  See you soon!
