Happy Birthday! ( washi tape edition)

Hello, friends!  Hope your weekend is off to a great start!!  I'll be completely honest and say that mine is so far not bad - but I haven't done too much today.  I got up on some of my TV shows this morning, and this afternoon, I'm in my craft room wanting to be creative with my plethora of supplies :)

I wanted to pop in today to share this birthday card I just finished up!

Like a lot of us crafters - we have a pretty good selection of that stuff called washi tape!  I have plenty to use and don't any more to add to what I have - so I wanted to pick a few random patterns and colors that went well together - as you can see I came up with a teal, black silver combo. I recently bought some glitter washi tape from Freckled Fawn, and wanted to use it on this card!  In fact, it was the one roll I grabbed and added on from there.  So- I created my washi panel, and then I die cut two frames - one from Mama Elephant's Femme Frames, and the other from Simon Says Stamp Postage Edge Frame Dies.

I used "an oldy but goody" stamp set from The Stamps of Life called standup4sentiments. I love this set - simply because its different, and you need sentiments that stamp in this orientation. I stamped and heat embossed it with Hero Arts white embossing powder.  I adhered everything together, and placed it on my Coastal Cabana card base.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!! I plan on being back tomorrow with a card tutorial!  I am going to try and make card tutorials for you every Sunday!  We will see how that works out!  Stay tuned!!

CFC# 51 - Happy Birthday!

Monday, Monday...I'm actually enjoying Monday today as I am on vacation, and free to be crafty a little bit more this week than usual.  This morning, I wanted to share my card for this week's CAS-ual Friday Challenge.  Over at the blog, they are celebrating their 1st birthday.  So - its all about making birthday cards!!

Who doesn't love getting a birthday card - and to me birthday cards are suppose to be colorful!  Since its CAS-ual Friday's birthday, I wanted to incorporate the logo's birthday colors - blue and yellow.  I love this embossing folder!  And - I thought the sentiment went well with the occasion.  It comes from Stampology.  I stamped my balloons from one of my Fiskars stamp sets ( sorry, I don't have the name on this set).

So - Happy Birthday CAS-ual Fridays!!  Here to many more happy birthdays and fun challenges. :o)

Have a great day, everyone!

Humorous birthday

Happy Tues evening my friends.  I'm back this evening to share with you the cute birthday card I had made for my brother for his birthday that was the 11th of May.  I don't get to see my brother, sis in law, and nephews that much.  It has been about 8 months or so since I have seen them last - which makes me sad, but try to let them know that I love them, and think of them often by sending them cards.  My nephews are both in baseball, so that has the whole family busy right now.  My brother is 4 yrs. older than I am, so I have to poke fun that he will ALWAYS be older than me :o)

Here is that card I made him.

I really enjoy using baker's twine right now.  As crafters, I think we all go through phases of different themes, or products to use when we enjoy them so much, and right now mine is baker's twine.  Yummy stuff! :o)
I have recently purchased a butterfly chipboard album, and that is my next "big project".  I am taking a tip from the new Creative Spaces magazine, and turning it into a beautiful banner!!  So be on the look out for that in a future post!

Night Friends!!

Happy Birthday, Cupcake!

It looks to be shaping up to be a stormy Tues. evening.  Since I can't watch my St. Louis Cardinal's game - how about a card share.  I made this cute lil cupcake card for, surprise, a co-worker.  Her birthday was last Sat.  I wanted to make her something bright and festive!

You can't really tell in this picture - but the outside has glittery paper from one of my DCWV stacks.

I love this felt embellishments.  They are so much fun, and add something fantastic and quick to your card.
I am not sure if any of you follow what goes on with PaperCrafts Magazine but they have this contest yearly - called the Stamping Royalty contest.  I plan to enter this next year, but I just love the story of the winner that was just announced last week.  The day she won the contest - was the day she had her beautiful baby boy.  Check this  out.  What a precious baby boy.  Congrats to her!!!

Till next time my fellow crafters!!

Butterfly Birthday

Hi all - I am posting this late - but wanted to get it in before I head to bed.  Hope your Monday was good as a Monday can get. :o)  I wanted to share with all of you this Birthday card I made for my mother - in- law's sister's birthday that is coming up.  She asked for me to make her a card - and of course, I said yes without any hesitation!  This is another "window card" but with a bit of a different variation.

I just love Epoxy stickers.  They give a different "flare" to a card or scrapbook page.  I thought this card had a vintage antique feel.  Very feminine.  Hate to cut this one short - but got to get ready for another work day!  Night all!!

Don't ya just love birthdays?

Good Sunday afternoon crafters!  It is a balmy 82 degrees here in SC Missouri!!  I can't believe it.  It has been beautiful this weekend to get out and do whatever makes you feel good.  I got a ( new to me) used fridge from some friends of ours.  It is a nice fridge, and I am stoked because we have the option to have a nice glass of cold ice water from the convenience of the door!  I'm tellin' ya - the little things make me happy - most of the time.

Today - I thought I would share with you two cards I made for my mom's best friend, Linda.  She is like a second mom to me - she and my mom have been friends for YEARS ( over 34 yrs which is how old I am - and more ).  She loves anything tropical, and who could blame her in these stressful times.  Thinking of a tropical getaway always sounds nice.  So - I made her a tropical birthday card on request of my mom - and then I made her one from me that was bright and cheery.

And the inside - which has my favorite part - the "bottle with sand and seashells"

Then this is the one I made for her - the stamp set I used for this one is "Upsy Daisy" from SU.  It is such a cute little stamp set.

Linda loved them both!!

:::On another note::: - I have done two haul videos - and will be posting them up on You Tube soon.  I gotta find a different format for my videos because they take so long to load.  Anyway - be on the look out for those!

Till next time!

Stay inspired!!,

Birthdays

Hi all- The last few days have been beautiful weather wise!  If it has been possible, folks around here are outside enjoying the weather for sure.  It is a great time to have a birthday right now.  I have made several birthday cards within the last few days.  Today was no exception.  I wanted to share with you one of the that I made for a co worker.  It is colorful and fun, and that would make anyone have a smile on their face.

This features one of the new stamp sets I purchased from SU, called "Bring on the Cake".  There are several different stamps in the set.  A fun variety!  I also took advantage of using some of the new SU ribbon that I purchased.  This is the first time that I have bought and used their ribbon.  I like it very much!!  And! It is a great value for the money.  You get a lot of ribbon, which I was surprised!  I will be buying more in the future!!

Well - on a personal front, I will be having some leisure time off of work the next few days.  The weather should be nice!!  I think I have been getting some great responses from my You Tube videos I posted earlier in the week.  I haven't received any bad comments.  As my grandmother used to say " No news is good news".  She was a very smart woman!

Well folks, that is all from me this go round.  I will be back once again with a new card share!  I also want to share a project with you that I made for a dear friend ( her request).  It turned out nice!  Stay tuned for that!!

Here's to new things...

Hi all!- Things should return back to normal pace now.  The holidays are over for another year!  Some are glad, some are not, but I for one am glad!  I haven't made a card in about two weeks!!  That is crazy!  Believe it or not time did not really allow me to, because I was catching up on rest, and the creative juices were not there.  Hopefully- they are returning!  I have had the want to make cards- I always do- but feel sometimes and go through periods where I just need to take a slight break and gather my thoughts.  Hope everyone's holiday season was happy!!  With my first card of 2011, I needed to get in the birthday mode as my hubby's birthday is coming up on the 17th!  I would disclose his age but, for one I just won't, and two- let us say he has a baby face for his age!!  :o)  How I love my sweet husband!  - OK- so, here is a birthday card I "whipped up" for today's post.  Seriously, I made this in a matter of 30 or so minutes so I could get posting cards for you all again!!  This is what I came up with.  What do you think??

I just love these felt stickers!  They are so adorable, and you can use them in so many ways, AND- it really makes a card pop if you need to make one fast!!  It is my new addiction for sure right now.  I also used some of paper from the 6 x 6 pad- Restoration collection by Crate Paper.  These 6 x 6 pads are great for card makers!  I also used some Distress Ink in Worn Lipstick.  I hadn't used this color yet, and I like it, like all the Distress Inks!  They are great for stamping, water coloring, you name it.  These inks are very versatile.

On the YouTube video front- I am still in the works of putting up my first video.  I finally got my pocket camcorder in.  Now- I just need to dive in and make a video.  I need all the encouragement I can get, because I really want to get a broader audience, and I feel this will help me to get there!!  I will keep you updated!!  Stay tuned!!  AND- don't forget that I have cards and some post it note holders for sale at my Etsy Shop!

Well- It is getting late- I need to "close up shop" and head to bed, as I do have a day job that supports my "habit" :o)  Night all!!

Stay Inspired!!

Another year older - another year wiser?

Happy Thursday everyone.  It is the eve of my 34th birthday, and I am thinking to myself where have the years gone..I still feel like I should be 18!  I guess all of us ask ourselves where time goes.  I am very blessed to be happily married to my husband.  I am thankful for many things.  I will tell you this year has flown by for sure.  I still can't believe that I have been doing my hobby of card making for a little over a year.  I have learned so much, and love it more and more each day.  Since it is my birthday ( Friday)- how about a Birthday card!

This card is one of my "earlier" cards I made.  Actually, to tell you the truth, I was over at a friend's house, and we were hanging out, and I made this card just from her scraps!  Not bad for scraps!  I also love, love butterflies.  It has some of my favorite elements in it, butterflies, bright colors, especially purple.

I would love to hear what any of you think of the cards that I post on my blog.  I do not get too much feedback, positive or otherwise.  When hearing from others, I feel I would get better, and change the things that would need to be improved.  I do realize, my style is just that, but I only want to strive and continue to get better in making my cards.

On that note, I am closing the post up for tonight.  Thank you to those that take the time and look at my blog, whether you comment or not.  I appreciate it so much! Happy Birthday to me!!  :o)

Stay well friends,

-Kari

Happy Veteran's Day

This day we celebrate our veteran's as they have made the ultimate sacrifice.  Without them, we wouldn't have the freedom that we do.  God bless them all!
Today's card features the beautiful bald eagle, another symbol of our freedom.  I actually had made this particular card for my father - in- law  for his birthday.  I have a clear stamp set from Mint Motif that has the polka dot design, and I stamp all over my cardstock with versamark ink.  I then spread red embossing powder all over and heat embossed it, and after it cooled, I took my crimping tool, and crimped it to have a wavy texture to it.  It is kinda hard to see in the photo, but just me, it is there.  I placed my stamped image of the eagle on real red cardstock, and used the ticket punch on the ends.  I then took my choc. chip ink and gave the ends a distressed look.  I finished it off with my birthday greeting, and delivered it with a smile.
If you know someone that has served for our country, please tell them thank you, and that you appreciate their time served.  Everyone has a blessed and happy day.

We've made it to Wed Friends

Happy Middle of the week!  We are surely making our way to Friday, which I am happy about.

This morning's card is in your face with a Happy Birthday.  I printed this cute image from a site called "coloring castle" I believe.  I colored entire thing in Copic Markers.  I love Copics.  I am in the early stages of getting these markers, but the ones I do have, I just love.  I love all the dimension that it gives, especially if you color it right.  This inspired me to color like a favorite Copic teacher, which I wish I could meet and take classes from and that is Suzanne Dean.  This woman is awesome! Check out her blog, and see some of her wonderful artistry.  Tell her I sent ya!  I just added some pearls, some paper flowers, and used my Fiskars "treading water" border punch to bring more yellows to this card to bring it all together.  Just so everyone knows, and if you are interested, I will be setting up an Etsy account in the future for purchasing cards if someone is interested, till then you may email me, or comment below if you want something specific.  Thank you! Hope your day is blessed.
