CAS-ual Friday Challenge: Embossing

Hi all!  Back with you to share my entry for this week's CAS-ual Friday Challenge: Embossing.  This time we needed to make a card that features any type of embossing - dry embossing, heat-set or embossing folders.  I did two types for my card, heat - set and used an embossing folder.

I heat embossed my Hero Arts image on a piece of patterned paper from the new stack from BG : Indie Bloom. I then added a bit of distress ink to the image to bring it out a bit on the paper and to tone down the "brightness" of the paper.  I wanted COLOR in my project, and this paper was perfect for it.  I, then cut the image up into three segments, and added them to a piece of white card stock from Gina K. Designs.  I die cut the image then with my Top Note Die from SU!  I took a piece of vellum card stock and one of my cuttlebug folders and embossed the vellum.  I didn't want to take away the beautiful card base color of Summer Sunrise card stock from PTI, that is why I thought vellum would be a different choice.  I then adhered all of it to my card base, and I had this cute card stock sticker, and added it for my sentiment.  For the final steps, I added some gemstones color by some Copic markers, and some "faux" stitching on the sides with my white gel pen.

Until next time!!!  Keep smilin'! and creative!

Happy it is the weekend!

Hi Blog readers! I haven't been here posting a lot in the last week or so.  I have actually missed it.  I have been super busy with work, and then things I have to do after work, that it leaves VERY little time to relax, unwind, and eat supper, much less do a blog post and do any crafting.  I have been promising a new card to post, and well, I try to fulfill my promises.  I made this for my friend Stacie at work.  She helped me do something I needed done at work, and I wanted to acknowledge her for it.   So- here it is....

I wanted to use my Top Note Die from Stampin' Up.  It is one of my favorite dies.  I also used an embossing folder from Stampin' Up.  I believe it is called Fifth Ave Rose.  I could be mistaken on that.  On the embossed image where the raised parts are, I took a finger nail file and sanded on that image to expose some of the white underneath, and then took different shades of Distress Inks and applied the ink to the white portions.  Then I just added some baker's twine, and a couple of buttons for some interest.  So sorry guys it has taken me a while to post anything.  I will try to get back into the swing of things.  I wanted to quickly mention that I will be featured on the blog "Crafty Storage" on the 30th of Jan.  If any of you read that blog- it is great if you love discovering new storage ideas for your crafts.  I will post more about that when it is available.  I also thought about trying my hand at a You Tube video this weekend.  We will see how it turns out!  Have a nice weekend everyone!  Till then...

It is a blustery Sunday...

Well, the excess wind will just not stop!! - It makes me think of winter, and snowmen.  So, I thought it would be fitting to share a card that featured a snowman on it.    It is cold outside, but it is warm inside, and that is what matters to me at the moment.  I got out a few times today, and one of those times, I purchased a new little heater for when it is cold ( which is all the time during the winter months) in my craft room.  It will make it more pleasant to do my crafting.  The weekend has flew by.  I guess the wind took the weekend with it!  :o)  So, here is my Sunday card share for today.

I stamped the card base with Florentine Pattern stamp from Hero Arts.  I inked it up with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink.  I, then took a piece of patterned paper that I had already cut out with my Top Note Die from Stampin' Up, and adhered that down the the card base.  The snowman you see there is from a sticker pack that was purchased from Wal-Mart last year in there craft section.  I, then stamped my sentiment from Stampin' Up, that I believe comes in a stamp set, but I had purchased this one stamp from a small scrapbook store in some of my travels.  I also stamped the sentiment with the Aged Mahogany Distress Ink.  Mr. Snowman looks to be a happy 'lil guy to be so cold!!!  :o)

I have edited some of my blog to make it more visitor friendly.  If you like this card, or any other of the cards you see on my blog, at the bottom of each post, there is a "reaction" box you can check and it will say "I like this one".  I love to hear feedback from my readers.  There is also a comment box at the bottom of each post, and a "c-box" where you can add your comments or if you have any questions, you may submit them, and I will be happy to answer them for you.  I have other Christmas cards I need to make, so I can send them out this week!  I need to get on the ball!!  Enjoy the rest of the weekend where ever you are in the world!!  Till next time friends!!
