Lawn Fawnatics Challenge - Something See Through using Our Friendship Grows!

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing with you my entry for the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #59 Something See Through.  I have always enjoyed the look of see through cards whether it would be with the use of vellum, or acetate.  I think it gives a different look to an everyday card.  So, I thought about how I would create something for this challenge, and I immediately thought of my favorite Lawn Fawn set EVER, which is Our Friendship Grows.  I will be super sad if Lawn Fawn ever retired this set, and I would forgive them if they created a new version! HAHA

I just love sunflowers, and the thought of my favorite stamp company no longer having a sunflower set, well, it would be a sad time in my craft room for sure!!  OK- back to the card, and how I created it.  I thought of these beautiful sunflowers and thinking how cool it would be to create for my see through element, a vellum vase or jar for my sunflowers.  So, I used the die for the vase from How You Bean and die cut a piece of vellum.  From there, I stamped out my flowers with some Copic friendly ink, and colored my sunflowers with my Copic Markers, and once I was complete, I used the matching dies to cut my flowers, and leaves.  For the stems, since they are so skinny, the easiest thing for me to do was use the lined image for the stem, stamp it down onto some light green card stock, and trim them out with my scissors.  It was actually pretty simple to do.

Next, I wanted to add the look of water to my vase/or jar, so I use two colors of blue Copic Markers and colored the back of my vellum and just moving my markers in a sweeping motion to add texture to the water.  I also added a bit of dimension around the edge of the vase/jar with a light gray Copic Marker, to add the glass look.

To put my card together, I added a piece of Perfectly Plaid Rainbow patterned paper to the bottom of my white card base to create a ground for my arrangement of flowers, and then I added liquid adhesive to my stems after getting the placement down first of where I needed them to be.  Then, I added my vellum piece by adding a thin bead of liquid adhesive around the edges and smoothing it out with my finger, and you really can't even tell there was glue applied.  Adding that gray marker around the edges also helps to disguise the glue.  Then, I added some foam adhesive to my sunflowers to pop them off of the card and added my leaves where I thought they'd look nice.

For some final details, I added some Wink of Stella clear glitter brush to the middle of my sunflowers, and added a hand drawn detail around the card for a frame.  I also stamped out my sentiment from the same Our Friendship Grows stamp set with Peacock Lawn Fawn ink.

I really didn't take too long to put this card together, once I had a plan in my head.  Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to check out the latest challenge, and play along!

Lawn Fawn Day 5 with Christy Gets Crafty Collab!

Hi friends and welcome to Day 5 and my final day of  Lawn Fawn Week!!  I can't believe it has gone by already!  Today I have a special collab with Christy Gets Crafty ( Christy Reuling ) - she is one of my best friends and crafty friends and I am I so happy she decided to do this with me!  I will have her video linked below if you would also like to check it out!

For today's card - I wanted to do something a little different for me.  I wanted to achieve two things on my card - a monochromatic look, and I wanted to get out my colored pencils.  I haven't used them in LONG time!

For our collab - the theme was to use a new set along with an older set from LF.  I used Our Friendship Grows as my old set ( it is one of my all time favs ) and Easter Party for my new set.  I started out by creating my background onto a piece of kraft card stock.  I stamped in Versamark the flowers from Our Friendship Grows, and I heat embossed them with Rose Gold Embossing Powder from LF.  Then, I wanted to add some white highlights.  I started out using my white gel pen, but then I pulled out my white colored pencil, and that is when I made the decision to color in my girl with the pencils too!

I love how she turned out, and I got the itch to play with my colored pencils more!!  Sometime I'd like to invest in some of the Faber Castell PolyChromos pencils too.  Once I was happy with my colored image, I die cut it out with the matching die, and also a white piece of cardstock using one of the Everyday Banners, and I stamped out my sentiment from Simply Sentiments.  I added my girl to my banner with liquid adhesive, and added some foam adhesive all over the back of this entire piece.  I die cut my background with one of the Stitched Rectangle Stackables, and then I adhere my main panel to to another piece of kraft card stock.
For the inside, I stamped out the largest flower from Our Friendship Grows in Doe ink, and another sentiment from Simply Sentiments in Plastic Flamingo ink.

Well - that's it!!  This is a wrap on Lawn Fawn Week.  I still have the giveaways going on - so if you havent' checked out that video - I encourage you to.  Thank you so much again for Christy to join me for this collab!!

Sunflower Shaker - Lawn Fawnatics Interactive Card

Hi friends!
I am back to share with you my entry for the next Lawn Fawnatics Challenge: Interactive Cards.

I will be quite honest, I am not very confident when it comes to coming with innovative ideas for interactive cards, but I thought this card turned out pretty good!

One of my all time favorite sets is Our Friendship Grows.  So, I thought it would be fun to create the centers of the sunflowers as little shaker elements.

I knew going into my design that I was going to have enough bulk with this card because of the foam tape on the card for it to be popped up enough for the shaker elements to move freely, so I decided to stamp my sunflowers directly onto a piece of the blue Watercolor Wishes pattern paper.  From there, I colored in my images with my Copics, and then I backed my pattern paper with a piece of white card stock for it to have enough stability.  I took my craft knife and carefully cut out the centers of my flowers.

I added my piece of acetate, and my foam tape and then added my brown seeds beads.  What is fun, is that it really looks like the inside texture of the sunflower. I then placed a piece of card stock to enclose my beads and shook a few times for my own pleasure :)

I wanted to add some highlights, so I just took my white gel pen and added right onto the acetate window a few white highlight dots.  For my sentiment I die cut the Scripty Hugs three times from yellow, light blue and brown card stocks and it really brings out the sentiment.  I added my shaker panel to a die cut scalloped frame, and then onto my A2 white card base.

For final embellishment, I added some Wink of Stella shimmer to my flower pedals.

I am happy to enter this one into the challenge :)

Thanks for stopping in!
