Holiday Card Series| Day 1| KWCardDesign

My my...its been a while since I last posted anything to my blog - my apologies!  Life just happens, ya know! You should be seeing more frequency over here - I am starting my Holiday Card Series for 2015!!

Today's card is using the Simon Says Stamp/Lawn Fawn exclusive stamp set Merry Christmouse.  Unfortunately, this set is sold out - it was only available during Simon Says Stamp Stamptember event - but I couldn't resist using this set for my first installment!!

I feel I kept it simple with the design - but I feel it turned out really cute too!!  I did a little of everything, stamping, coloring and die cutting.  I started out stamping the cute image of the mouse in the stocking onto a piece of white PTI Stampers Select White CS, and used MFT Hybrid Black Licorice ink.  I did some simply Copic coloring of my image.  All of the markers, and other supplies that I used for this card I listed/linked below the video tutorial.

Once I was happy with the coloring - I did some die cutting - I used the Small Stitched Rectangles Dies from LF as well as a Stitched  Circle die from SSS and I die cut from a piece of New Leaf CS from Papertrey ink.  I also die cut a scalloped rectangle from LF and die cut a piece of Schoolhouse Red CS from SSS.  For my green card stock piece, I wanted to add a bit of interest, so I used the cheese present image, and stamped it using Green Hills ink from Hero Arts and created a random pattern all over. Then I stamped my sentiment from the same stamp set using the same black ink as before.  I then placed foam adhesive on the back of my panel, and adhered it to my red scalloped piece.  I then adhered my circle piece, and for the final touch I added some clear wink of stella to add some shimmer.

Super cute to mass produce and it really wouldn't take long to crank out a few of these!!

Thanks for stopping by for Day 1!  Hope you come back for Day 2!!  See you then!

Lawnscaping Challenge #103 Dimension

Hi all!!  Welcome to a new challenge over at Lawnscaping Challenges!  We are all about Dimension this go 'round!  Who doesn't love dimension.  It makes you cards or layouts just stand out!

I really wanted to capture that in my card for this challenge, and I hope you feel that I achieved just that!!

So - I kept the design pretty simple.  I wanted the dimension to speak for itself.  I inked up the cute fan image from Best Pun Ever from Lawn Fawn.  I think this is an adorable set!!  I first started stamping out my fan image three times and coloring one of the images in its entirety, and then color only parts of the other two images as I was only going to use parts of them.  I also wanted a "retro" feel with the color scheme.  I used my Copics to color in the fan(s) and then I fussy cut my images out except for the "full" fan that I colored.  Here I am showing you more of that dimension.  Loved how these photos really show it off!

To create the dimension, I used two different thicknesses of foam adhesive.  And, as you can see I wanted some texture too on my card, so I used an embossing folder that represents "wind swirling" and I used the de-bossed side.

For my panels I used both the Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables and Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables.  And, of course to adhere all of my elements, I used more foam adhesive!  I also added a bit of shimmer to my fan's blades with Clear Wink of Stella brush pen.

I hope you are able to play along as there is a chance to win a $25 gift certificate with Ellen Hutson!!

Catch you back here soon!!

New Monthly Feature : SSS Card Kit Tutorials - JAN. 2015

Hi everyone!!  I wanted to incorporate a new feature over here at my blog and on my YouTube Channel that will be monthly.  I have been a subscriber of the Simon Says Stamp Card Kits ever since they began about two or three years ago.  The best part I think when becoming a subscriber of this kit in particular is you can "opt out" of the current month's kit that is up if you are not interested, and pick back up the next month.

I am starting off this feature with January's Kit.  Although this kit put together is sold out - you can still get elements individually :)  The papers in particular for this month's kit are so awesome!  The color scheme is right up my alley!!  So - here is the card I made using this kit.  I will try to share with you two cards a month - but definitely one.

I did use a few elements that were not included in the kit, like the dies and the enamel dots/gems, but most of the items used did come from this kit.  Below is the video tutorial as well!!  It is my first voice over tutorial, and I'll tell ya, I couldn't be happier!  I've been wanting to do this for a long time, and now I can!!  I hope you enjoy!!  See you soon!!

LSC #95 White on White

Hello!  It is time yet again for a new Lawnscaping Challenge!!  We are testing your Monochromatic skills by making a project featuring nothing but white!!  This was sort of a challenge for me!  But hopefully I have given you some ideas for inspiration for your project!!

I thought to myself, how could I spruce up white!  Give it different textures!  So I die cut some white card stock using the Small Stitched Rectangles dies from Lawn Fawn, and I embossed each piece with a different embossing folder.   It totally transforms the white card stock!  Then, a while back I was experimenting with dies and using the die cut negatives as a DIY stencil.  I have a post on this very thing over at the Lawnscaping Blog here.  White I was experimenting I did one with the Joy die from Lawn Fawn with my Ferro Mother of Pearl Modeling Creme, and I've been dying to use it ever since and this was the perfect project for it!!

This challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp.  How awesome are they!?!  So be sure to link up your project for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate!  See you soon!!
